What is Calling The Shots?

Casual connoisseurs and committed carousers alike will be introduced to the proper techniques of tasting and blending wine. Its language will be revealed by our experts before being used by teams as they attempt to distinguish the top-of-the-range from budget plonks.

Wearing blindfolds, teams will be asked to identify the country of origin, grape variety, vintage and price band of a wide selection of wines. Delegates will be amazed at just how effective their newfound powers can be.

From tasting, they then move on to blending. Teams will create their very own blend from fine wines which they will then present using the language they have learned. Our experts will appraise each team’s efforts and the winners will be rewarded with a guide to wine. There will also be a ‘Wine Master’ award which will be given to the individual with the most unique approach to wine appreciation.
